Crawling into My Writing Cave Again

This blog is going to be pretty dull and quiet for the next two months... but that's actually a good thing. My editorial letter will more than likely arrive in the coming weeks, which means I'll be busy revising, beautifying, and polishing In the Shadow of Blackbirds in preparation for its release next year. Before the letter shows up, I'm going to try to get my novel-in-progress to a good stopping point so I can pour my heart and soul back into my beloved Blackbirds.

If I have time, I'll share a post about what it's like to be entrenched in the post-contract revision stage. The behind-the-scenes steps of publishing are often shrouded in mystery, so I'd love to offer a sneak peek behind the authorly curtain.

For now, I apologize for the lack of chattiness over here. The fun, promotional stages of In the Shadow of Blackbirds are yet to come, and I can assure you I'll be loud and talkative for those.

Good luck with revisions, Cat! Don't forget to take a breather once in a while. (And it's hard to stop in the middle of a new project, isn't it?)

Thanks, Elsie! I appreciate the reminder about taking a breather now and then. I'm sure I'll need to force myself to stop for breaks once I'm in the thick of everything.

Crunch time! Good luck with the pre-summer rush! Looking forward to reading the results. ; )

Thanks, Ara! Good luck to you, too! Even though it's only March, the school year feels like it's hurrying its way to summer vacation.

Good luck, Cat! I will be cheering you on and sending virtual chocolate and caffeine-based drinks from my side of the pond! :)

Thanks so much for the international support, Emma! If you could send virtual Wispa bars from your side of the pond, I'd have no problem tackling my revisions. I became addicted to those when I studied in London years ago. :)

Hey, Cat! Enjoy the revision process. I just finished and found it kind of fun, though I guess it depends. By the way, I love your blog header! How did you make it? Or did someone design it for you?

Hi, Claire! I'm happy to hear you found the revision process fun. I've heard so many writers get stressed out about the editorial letter stage, but I'm really looking forward to getting back to my book and digging further into my characters.

Thanks for your kind words about my blog header. I'm certainly not a graphic designer, but I played around in both Adobe Photoshop and the about-to-disappear Picnic editing software (affiliated with Picasa) until I came up with the result above.
